Finally, the moment has arrived. Grijs (Grey) will make its debut in Amsterdam at Sunday night the 26th of September 2010. The location is one of the most intimate, dark clubs of Amsterdam, Club NL.

Especially for this night we give Ra.H. the opportunity to share his sounds with us. His preference for the psychedelic jazz of Sun Ra, the warm techno of the early days of Detroit and the soul of long forgotten records, makes his sound very sophisticated, in a way we hardly hear anymore.
We also know Rabih (his real name and born in Lebanon) as his alter ego Morphosis and from his band The Upperground Orchestra.
In 2005 Rabih started his label Morphine Records, where he has released most of his records, a label that is more about quality instead of quantity: Anthony Shake Shakir, Hieroglyphic Being and Ksoul are a few artists that found a spot at this home. All people out there with great taste can come out and enjoy a 2 hour live/dj set which presumably will be dark, intricate, intelligent and sexy all at the same time.

Organizers and resident dj’s Mark van de Maat and Akemiö Grey will introduce this Grijs night with a set full of quality music and contrasts. They will explore decades of dance music and with love they’ll combine these with the electronic rarities of the present.

Jorn Liefdeshuis from Bar Weinig and Squz Agency will end the night b2b with Lena Willikens from Köln, Germany, with a set in which borders will fade.

On Sunday night our love for vinyl will shine, and this night will characterize itself as a twilight zone where everything is possible. We want surprises and diversity on the dance floor. We’ll go from afro to Chicago, from dubtechno to future garage, from electro to jazz and back to italo/disco.

The night starts at 22:00 and lasts ‘till 3:00, so come early. For only 5,- you’ll have a beautiful night.

Last year at the Transmediale festival Berlin i saw a smaller version of this vj installation, just hanging there in a empty space..

But this big version turns a stage and a ''random'' club night in a wonderfull experience, hopefully to see this at a future festival. Maybe at STRP, would be great.

Last night i listened to my favourite techno tracks all time.
A remix of Ignition Key from Adam Beyer, remixed by Speedy J.

I looked further, and did the rediscovery of the Ignition Key album from 2002.
A time that techno just called that way.
The album sounds timeless, fits perfectly in a deep dj set nowadays.

Old memorie's came up, it was a Awakenings new year edition 2003 in the old NDSM-werf.
The perfect place for a techno party's like that, raw, old, and dirty.
In the time we dit not talk or socialized all night long.
The only thing was Music, listening to it, analize it, share tracks that you like and most important: dance.
Sometime's i mis that period, but yeah..but time brings changes.

Last week i chill'd with my new best friend Dr. Grey.

He told me all exciting stuff about his plans to rock the nights in Dordrecht the
19th of February!

I'm very curious..he is still a little bit vague about it, i only know that the new Dolhuys is the location, and they are going to play very diversity on Electronic music. he's calling it Grijs, thats his thing, combining many many different electronic genre's and other type's of Art.
To create a perfect envirment of looking at sounds.

There going to play deep cosmic disco house to more live electro synthersizer stuff and dubstep electronica.
And he told me that there is even more, there isnt ''only'' very good and deep music.
There's also a place for people that want to share stuff, like performance, live video, dance, and maybe more. I'm even more excited now!

I'm very happy to have the world famous Dr Grey by my side.
I have some questions for him.

Grey, tell me who are you:

Well that's easy, im born in Svenska Gumlösa (i won't tell my age, that's a big secret haha)
As long i can remember i was always interest in anything that made sounds.
But one day, i was running with some friends to the forest, and i fell on the ground, really hard.
Since that moment every sound was different, i could see them, feel them you know, all my senses where completely focused.

And after i think it was one year later or so, my hair started to grow really fast, can't stop it.
But i let it be..there was nothing i could do.
And i have to say, it kinda looks cool don't you think?

Well, its a little bit strange, but i think your right, it kinda looks cool yes :)
So continue your story!

After a few children years later i started devoting my life to synthetics and the world of sounds.
Be within the sound, that's who i really am.

Did you go to an art/music school?:

Well, i tried to follow some private music classes but in those days it was really expensive and i didn't liked it at all, so i started to buy my own instruments.
After some years of practicing i learned to play the piano.

At that time i thought it would be nice to go on music school yes, so i did.
But after a few years of struggle at the Malmö art academy i decided to quit and travel the world to meet musicians, artiest, philosophic and just nice people you know, that was the best choice i ever made hohoho...

Oke, so i noticed, you don't have any papers?

Well, its not that i traveled the world ''just'' to have fun, i did a lot you know.
You have to know at the time i left Sweden i already played in differed bands, people i met in Malmö and some guys from school.
It's always be like that, until now.
So you can say i have no papers, that's true..but a lot of experience, and that's in my opinion better than some education.

I did a lot of different projects, all complete different sounds, and different aspects and visions into bring the music to an higher state.
From early electronic works to 80's pop, from the early house days to UK jungle and Sheffield based experimental techno stuff.
I lived it all you know hahahooo.

I always say to people:

" there is no music without sound, but there is sound without music "
" to create a sound is to feel emotion "
" complete silence is by far the best sound in this world "

Thats what it, is nothing more.

So tell my, when did you quit your world journey:

After a few years of traveling i meet a group of musicians that travel the world making music and living of it.
The asked to joined me in there adventure's over the world and started to make small money.
It was all about fun, and meeting people.
Nothing more you know, i started to missed the freedom, you have to know I'm more like a loner, it was 24/7 being with this group, i started to freak out.
We did a huge Germany tour, Munchen, Berlin, Jena, Olganitz, we stayed there at least a year. then we went to different place's in Polen, Russia, U.K. with Bristol as the last place.
There we met this group of street musicians that played electronics live on self-made machine's.

At that time i realized that traveling was no longer good for a basic foundation.
And yes yes you have to know, i fell in love at this girl..she was so sweet in the begin time, but a real devil.
I moved with her to Eindhoven, later we moved to Amsterdam but than she dumped me for this stupid guy playing in a boy band (F#*$#CKER)

After that i knew for sure, I'm Dr Grey, music is my life.
I moved to Dordrecht off all place where i live a quite live.
I squatted a old small church where i live with my cat my sweet husky dog and a lot of machine's, i love it.

And i visit Amsterdam sometimes, like today haha :)

Oke, i have 1 final question, do you always wearing that strange goggle?

NO off course not, its not nice while sleeping or taking a shower..or some private stuff ;)
But i like it, so i wear it almost always :)

Today i had a date with the very mysterious person Dr Grey, i've met him at a party in the Edison Eindhoven a while ago, tonight i'm going to take some picture's, i'm really excite'd.

He like's music very much, is born in a small village of the country side in Sweden.
And he like's yopi-sauce very much.
He has really long black and shiny hair all over his face, and he wear's a mysterious blue goggle with ligtning.

That's because he live only at night, he has this rare strange eye condition, can't stand bright day light.

Well i will tell you more about him after the shoot.
